Louis Libitz would like to thank Prof. Jane Steuerwald - Executive Director, Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium - Black Maria Film Festival, who juried this year's competition and for all of those who submitted.
Jane Steuerwald is actively engaged in curating and presenting film programs for colleges, universities, and arts venues across the country and abroad including: The National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; Princeton University; University of Delaware; the University of Gloucestershire, UK; the Paramount Theater, Charlottesville, VA; University of the Arts, PA; Pratt Institute, NY; Savannah College of Art and Design, GA; University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; and more. In 2016, she produced and presented a five-program series for Anthology Film Archives, NYC in honor of the Black Maria’s 35th anniversary.
Her own films have been shown at MoMA, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, Anthology Film Archives, Millennium Film, the Collective Unconscious, the Black Maria Film Festival, the Asian Cinevision International Film Festival, Atlanta Film and Video Festival, and Athens International Film and Video Festival. Jane was chair of the Media Arts Department, NJ City University for many years, and taught media production, history and aesthetics for decades. She designed film series for the Womenswork Media Collective and the Urban Image Showcase, both based in Jersey City, prior to becoming the Thomas Edison Media Arts Consortium Executive Director in 2013. In 2012, she was a Women’s History Month Honoree in Hudson County for empowering.
• VIEW-MASTER is focused on expanding the expressive and artistic terrain of photography. We welcome submissions into the competition which are culturally, ethnically, and otherwise diverse, by makers of any background who illuminate the human condition and explore and engage the creative potential of the medium. Selection of awards are based on the nondiscriminatory and artistic judgment of the jurors and staff of the festival.
